Oatlands Preparatory School was established as a Foundation Phase School in 1949. Due to the increased demand for English medium education, the school expanded to include Grade 4 in 2013. With the addition of a grade each year, Oatlands has now grown into a fully-fledged primary school. Our focus is on the holistic development of each child to ensure a sound foundation on which to build a successful future.
Oatlands is a public school for boys and girls from Reception to Grade 7 and is managed by a Governing Body comprising parents, teachers and non-teaching staff.
Oatlands is renowned for high quality education and provides primary schools in Grahamstown and beyond with learners fully prepared academically, socially, emotionally, creatively and physically to make the rest of their school careers meaningful and productive.
Many past pupils and their escapades are mentioned in Miss Lloyd’s book, “The Story of Oatlands”, which is full of interesting facts, amusing stories, photographs and illustrations and will make a great “coffee table” book. Copies of the book may be purchased from the school office at a cost of R160 each.
Very sadly, Miss Lloyd passed away in December 2012 after suffering a series of strokes. She was such a special person and is held dear to many past pupils of the school.
