From the first pupils of the school in 1949 to the most recent, Oatlands holds many treasured memories.
One of the events fondly remembered by past pupils is the fancy dress parade and party enjoyed by pupils on the School’s birthday in May each year. This tradition was instituted in the very first year and continues to the present day.
Every ten years, the School holds a special celebration for past pupils. In 2009, the School celebrated its 60th Birthday with a dinner for past pupils in the school hall. This was a wonderful trip down memory lane for past pupils of all ages who were able to attend. Best wishes and many enquiries about the progress of the school were received from as far afield as Canada and New Zealand. Past pupils enjoyed looking through scrapbooks and reminiscing about their time at Oatlands.
Many past pupils and their escapades are mentioned in Miss Lloyd’s book, “The Story of Oatlands”, which which is full of interesting facts, amusing stories, photographs and illustrations and will make a great “coffee table” book. Copies of the book may be purchased from the school office at a cost of R160 each.
If you are a past pupil of Oatlands and have not been contacted by the school in the past two years, please send us your contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will add you to our mailing list.
