Summer Sport

Sport takes place as part of the school day for Grades 1 to 7 as part of the new curriculum. The girls play tennis, volleyball and cross country . The boys play cricket, tennis, volleyball and cross country. Cricket is played on Stanton field or at the cricket nets at St Andrew’s College. Mrs Alison Dugmore is the Sports Co-ordinator and is very ably assisted by the teachers. When necessary, additional coaches, usually Rhodes University team players, are employed to assist. On occasion, parents have willingly offered their time and expertise to assist.

CHILDREN MUST HAVE THEIR OWN LIFTS TO TENNIS, which is held at the GRAHAMSTOWN CLUB, situated at the top of Oatlands Road.


  • Sport shoes and white socks.
  • Navy ermuda shorts for girls and navy boxer shorts for boys
  • Plain white or Oatlands golf shirt.
  • HATS ARE COMPULSORY for summer sports.
  • Sunscreen is advisable.

All children must be collected promptly after activities.

Sports Day

Oatlands Sports Day is an annual event with Sports Day for Grades R to 3 taking place in the first term and Sports Day for Grades 4 to 7 taking place in the third term. Food and refreshments are sold to raise funds for the school.
